TRAFFIC CONTROL (REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE) RULES, 2024
The Commissioner of Police, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 23(2) of the Police Act, with the approval of the Minister, makes the following Rules:

  1. These Rules may be cited as the Traffic Control (Remembrance Day Parade) Rules, 2024.
  2. In these Rules, “emergency vehicle” means a vehicle used by

(a)
the Barbados Red Cross Society;

(b)
the Department of Emergency Management; or

(c) an ambulance service; “relevant date” means Sunday, 10th November, 2024; “relevant period” means from 06:00 hours to 10:00 hours; “vehicle” has the meaning assigned to it by section 2 of the Road Traffic Act,
Cap. 295.

  1. On the relevant date, between 08:00 hours and 09:30 hours, the Remembrance Day Parade will be held in National Heroes Square in Bridgetown in the parish of Saint Michael.

  2. On the relevant date, during the relevant period, the following roads in Bridgetown in the parish of Saint Michael will be closed to all vehicular traffic:
    (a)
    Trafalgar Street;

(b)
Rickett Street;

(c)
High Street;

(d)
Wharf Road; and

(e)
Upper Broad Street.

  1. On the relevant date, during the relevant period, Broad Street from its junction with Prince William Henry Street to its junction with High Street in Bridgetown in the parish of Saint Michael shall be closed to all vehicular traffic.
  2. On the relevant date, during the relevant period, no vehicular traffic shall be allowed to travel from Fairchild Street on to the Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge in Bridgetown in the parish of Saint Michael.
  3. On the relevant date, during the relevant period, no driver or person in charge of a vehicle shall park along the following roads in Bridgetown in the parish of Saint Michael:

(a)
Belmont Road;

(b)
Constitution Road;

(c)
Martindale’s Road;

(d)
St. Michael Row;

(e)
Bridge Street;

(f)
Trafalgar Street;

(g)
Magazine Lane;

(h)
Palmetto Street; or

(i) Rickett Street.

  1. All drivers of vehicles conveying persons to National Heroes Square shall enter National Heroes Square and shall be allowed to park as follows:
    (a)
    drivers of vehicles bearing the identification mark “PBC” in black on blue background, in the courtyard of the Parliament Buildings; and

(b)
drivers of vehicles bearing identification mark “PM” in black on a green background, in the area of Palmetto Street and Marhill Street.

  1. All drivers and riders of vehicles, pedestrians and riders or leaders of animals using any of the roads specified in these Rules, shall exercise caution and shall comply with any order given by a member of the Barbados Police Service in uniform.
  2. Any person who contravenes these Rules or fails to comply with any order given by a member of the Barbados Police Service in uniform is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of $500 or to imprisonment for a term of 3 months or to both.

  1. These Rules do not apply to vehicles used by the Barbados Police Service, the Barbados Defence Force, the Barbados Fire Service or any emergency vehicle.
