Section 7 subsections (1) and (2) of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, Cap. 116A of the Laws of Barbados (“the Act”) provide as follows:
“7. (1) The Chief Justice may assign one or more magistrates to a district and may assign a magistrate to more than one district.
(2) Where more than one magistrate is assigned to a district each such magistrate shall exercise concurrent jurisdiction in that district with the other or others so assigned.”
1. Accordingly, in the exercise of the powers vested in me under section 7 subsections (1) and (2) of the Act, I direct that Magistrate Douglas Frederick be granted jurisdiction for District ‘A’ for 5 August 2022.
