PARLIAMENT
RESOLVED that Parliament in accordance with section 5 of the Land Acquisition Act, Cap. 228 approve the compulsory acquisition by the State of the parcel of land situate at Harrison’s Plantation in the parish of Saint Lucy in this Island and more particularly described in the Schedule to this Resolution for a public purpose, namely, education, economic and tourism development.

ALL THAT land situate at Harrison’s Plantation in the parish of Saint Lucy in this Island containing by admeasurement 36 517.3 square metres (3.65173 hectares) Abutting and Bounding on lands now or late of Arlington Grifﬁth (Lot 24) on lands now or formerly of Massy Properties Barbados Limited (Lot 23) on lands now or late of Maria-Rene Aileen Cumberbatch (Lot 22) on lands now or late of Gleeson Carlos Roach (Lot 21) on lands now or late of Neville Ricardo Mason (Lot 20) on lands now or late of Troy Noland Belgrave (Lot 19) on lands now or late of Philmore Medford Brome (Lot 18) on lands now or formerly of W. R. Investments Inc. on lands now or formerly of Barbados Tourism Investment Inc. and on a public road which leads to H.M.P Harrison’s Point in one direction and to Highway 1B in another direction or however else the same may abut and bound as shown and delineated on a Plan certiﬁed on the 4th day of May, 2023 by Alex R. Chandler, Land Surveyor and recorded in the Lands and Surveys Department on the 5th day of May, 2023 as Plan No. 740/2023.

PARLIAMENT

WHEREAS the Government of Barbados has signaled its intentions to give new impetus to the sports sector to provide communities with ownership in the development of sports and to ensure sports generates revenue for athletes, communities and the youth through the creation of a comprehensive and inclusive sports policy;

AND WHEREAS the policy aims to utilize sports as a means to foster youth and community development, and as a tool for social development and nation building;

AND WHEREAS the policy recognizes the signiﬁcant economic potential of sports and supports the need to build a sports industry which can contribute to economic development in a meaningful way;

AND WHEREAS the Government has engaged in extensive consultations with direct stakeholders within the sports arena on the draft National Sports Policy;

AND WHEREAS the Cabinet has given favourable consideration to the draft National Sports Policy;

AND WHEREAS a Green Paper has been prepared to inform the ﬁnalization
of a National Sports Policy;

AND WHEREAS the policy recognizes twelve thematic areas which are fundamental to sports development, namely Building a More Active Barbados, Sports for Community Development, Physical Education, Sports and the Education System, Sports and Penitentiary Reform, Development of a Sports Economy, Sports Tourism, Intellectual Property and Sports, Digital Sports Sector, Development of a High-Performance System, Specialists’ Sports Centre, Institutional Strengthening and Governance, and Incentives and Concessions;

DECLARATION OF APPROVED SMALL BUSINESS (AFB CONSULTING INC.) (REVOCATION) ORDER, 2023
The Minister, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 13(2)
(a) of the Small Business Development Act, makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Declaration of Approved Small Business (AFB Consulting Inc.) (Revocation) Order, 2023.
The Declaration of Approved Small Business (AFB Consulting Inc.) Order, 2006 (S.I. 2006 No. 13) is revoked on the ground that the company has notified the Minister, pursuant to section 12, that it has ceased operations.
